Brooklyn Nets guard Cam Thomas remains a free agent despite being one of the best players on the team. In the last two seasons, Thomas has emerged as a premier scorer, averaging more than 20 points. Last season, however, the 6-foot-4 guard was limited to just 25 games due to a left hamstring strain. That didn’t hinder him from averaging 24 points on 43.8% shooting, though.
His rookie contract with the Nets expired after the 2024-25 NBA season. Although Thomas was offered a contract extension from Brooklyn, he thought he deserved more. The franchise reportedly offered him a two-year, $28 million deal. According to reports, he is seeking a four-year, $100 million contract.
This situation has led NBA insider Jake Fischer to suggest that Thomas could accept the qualifying offer from the Nets. The offer that was given to the rising star was a one-year, $5.99 million. There is a belief around the league that Brooklyn isn’t interested in keeping the former LSU star, per Brett Siegel’s report.

On Friday, Fischer gave an update on Thomas’s side of the contract negotiation. According to the Nets star he strongly believes in his ability and considers himself an elite talent in the league who should receive the rightful compensation.
“Cam Thomas thinks of himself as one of the most elite playmaker scorers in the NBA, and he wants to be compensated as such. But to my understanding, the Brooklyn Nets have not offered Thomas anything more than a two-year deal with a team option on the second year in the $14 [million] AAV range,” Fischer said.

However, Fischer also reported that the Brooklyn Nets’ contract negotiation with Thomas is a “slow roll.”
Brooklyn Nets’ executive believes Michael Porter Jr. could challenge the NBA’s scoring title

The Brooklyn Nets believe they have one of the best scorers in the league with Michael Porter Jr. They acquired Porter via a trade with the Denver Nuggets in exchange for Cam Johnson. With the former Missouri star, the Nets acquired an underrated scorer.
According to a team executive, Porter could challenge for the scoring title next season.
“We’re transitioning our roster, of course,” said a Nets executive. “We’re going to play a lot of young players. But we need some vets to balance that. And, of course, we need to score some points. Porter will help us a ton there. I’m not saying he’ll win the scoring title, but I think it could be close.”

There’s no denying that Porter knows how to give his team a push with his scoring. However, he’s built a reputation for being a ballhog, which could often be looked at as a negative thing.
Fans are curious to see how well Porter will transition to being one of the top options for the Brooklyn Nets.
