Brooklyn Nets guard Dennis Schroder is keeping himself fit this offseason by taking on a different approach, as he was seen playing soccer in his home country of Germany.
Schroder was spotted playing as a left winger for FC Germania Bleckenstedt, a sixth-tier side in Germany, during their 5-1 defeat to 1. SC Gottingen 05 on Wednesday.
1. SC Gottingen 05 is currently on top of the Landesliga Braunschweig with 72 points, while Schroder’s team, FC Germania Bleckenstedt, is sixth in the standings with 53 points.
“NOT THE RESULT I WANTED FOR MY 1ST EVER OFFICIAL FOOTBALL GAME 💯🙏🏿 BUT THX TO MY BROTHER IN LAW (@daniel_io) FOR MAKING IT HAPPEN,” the Brooklyn Nets guard posted on his Instagram on Friday.

During the February trade deadline, Dennis Schroder (and Thaddeus Young) went to the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for Spencer Dinwiddie. With Ben Simmons sidelined, Schroder became the starting point guard for the Brooklyn Nets, averaging 14.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 6.0 assists on 42.4 percent shooting from the field.
The Brooklyn Nets will owe Dennis Schroder $13 million next season, and the 30-year-old guard said that he is happy with the team and hopes he can stay there longer.

“Of course. I always want to be stationed somewhere where people show me appreciation,” said Schroder. “And I felt that from the first day — people reaching out to my family, to my wife, to my mom. That shows, OK, they really (want me). And the playing style, as well, I like. They trust me, in what I am capable of. And of course, I want to stay.
