Brooklyn Nets guard Cam Thomas remains a restricted free agent because he is facing a tepid market this offseason, and analyst Zach Lowe has an idea why.

Lowe implied that several league executives view Thomas as a ball hog, and the Brooklyn Nets guard clapped back with an NSFW shot.
“The consensus on Cam Thomas — if there is one, and he’s got some fans, and he’s got some mega-detractors — but the consensus is kind of like empty calories, ball hog,” Lowe said about Thomas on his podcast.

“The consensus? F*** you and the consensus @ZachLowe_NBA. This is most likely the same consensus teams who can’t guard me and send double teams from jump ball. Why are we double-teaming a guy who’s “not that good” make it make sense please,” Thomas answered back via X (formerly known as Twitter).
Brooklyn Nets insider dishes on Cam Thomas’ complicated free agency situation
According to Brian Lewis of The New York Post, the Brooklyn Nets are taking their time before offering Cam Thomas a new contract because the team has more than enough flexibility.

“And the elephant in the room is Cam Thomas. While Nets fans are fretting, a league source said the sides are in no hurry, likely like all of the RFAs right now: Josh Giddey, Quentin Grimes, and Jonathan Kuminga,” Lewis posted on X (formerly known as Twitter).
Thomas faces the prospect of accepting his $6 million qualifying offer from the Brooklyn Nets this summer, which would eventually make him an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2026.
