The Brooklyn Nets have a big summer ahead of them because they will look to retool their roster despite not having much to work with, as far as assets are concerned.

Because they’re not a top free agent destination and don’t have a single pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, the Brooklyn Nets cannot afford to lose key players in free agency, such as their starting center Nic Claxton.
Erik Slater from ClutchPoints recently reported that Nic Claxton could command a huge payday of up to $20 million, as per league executives, after coming off a robust 2023-24 campaign with averages of 11.8 points, 9.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 2.1 blocks per game while shooting 62.9 percent from the field in 71 games during the regular season.

Nic Claxton can talk to other NBA teams on June 30 once his current deal with the Brooklyn Nets expires since he’ll be an unrestricted free agent by then. He was previously linked with potential moves to the Oklahoma City Thunder, Memphis Grizzlies, and New Orleans Pelicans.
Brooklyn Nets looking to get a deal done with Nic Claxton as soon as possible
Brian Lewis from The New York Post reported recently that the Brooklyn Nets are in a sense of urgency to lock down Nic Claxton to a new deal before the end of the month because of his importance to the squad.

“It was always a foregone conclusion that Nic Claxton would become an unrestricted free agent. But it’s no sure thing he will leave Brooklyn. He might not ever even hit the open market,” Lewis wrote.
“More and more the perception around the NBA is that Claxton is likely to re-sign with the Nets. That conceivably could happen before anybody else gets a chance to officially bid, with Brooklyn having an exclusive negotiating window with their center that starts the day after the NBA Finals ends.”
Either way, Nic Claxton will be one of the biggest winners this offseason because he will get paid, whether it’s in Brooklyn or somewhere else.
