Former Milwaukee Bucks guard Brandon Jennings hasn’t stopped from trashing Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum. In a recent episode of “Gil’s Arena,” Jennings talked smack about Tatum for not winning the Finals MVP over Jaylen Brown during the 2024 NBA Finals.
“You need to take down that number 0 jersey until he gets a Finals MVP,” Jennings said. “Go put that in the closet. Go put that s**t in the closet until he gets a Finals MVP.

However, when asked if he thinks Tatum is only a good player, the former top 10 pick said this:
“No, he’s a great player. I’m not taking that away from his game it just looks soft.”

So far, Tatum has only responded once to the noise in his post on Instagram. The Celtics star put a caption on his post, seemingly mocking the ex-player’s statement about him being soft. Other former players around Jennings like Kenyon Martin have defended the 2024 champion.
During the Finals against the Dallas Mavericks, Tatum averaged 22.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 7.2 assists. His co-star, Jaylen Brown, showed up with 20.8 points, 5.4 rebounds and 5.0 assists. Despite the better numbers, however, the award named after the late Bill Russell was given to Brown.
Jennings doesn’t think Jayson Tatum is a top 5 Celtic

Jennings wasn’t impressed with how Jayson Tatum performed in the Finals against Dallas. While talking to his co-hosts, Gilbert Arenas and Martin, the former Bucks player criticized Tatum’s production. Additionally, he kept him out of his top five Celtics list.
“Can you crack the top 5 in a Boston Celtics uniform?” Jennings asked.
“We got Bill Russell, we got Paul Pierce, we got Kevin McHale, we god Larry Bird and we got f**king Kevin Garnett.

Martin asked why he named Kevin Garnett in the top five list. According to Jennings, Garnett was a “dog,” which is why he chose to name the defensive big man among the best to play in a Celtics uniform. Arenas, on the other hand, mentioned that KG only averaged 15.7 points and 8.3 rebounds while playing in Boston.
The former Washington Wizards star said that the big man was the second option to Paul Pierce, who won the 2008 Finals MVP. Jennings used the argument to his next statement about Tatum and Brown.
“That’s how it’s supposed to look like with Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum. You were supposed to look like a number two option. But Jaylen Brown? You look like the Finals MVP and you looked like he was the best player this whole time.”
