Detroit Pistons star Cade Cunningham extended his streak of scoring 25 points or more to four games and sent his team to a dramatic victory over the Philadelphia 76ers. They now sit at the top of the Eastern Conference with an 8-2 record.

Cunningham was both a human highlight reel and stabilizer in the game that ended at 111-108. His team needed him to score a fadeaway jumper with 16.9 seconds left on the clock to create the three-point separation.

Tyrese Maxey, who finished with 33 points, still managed to take a 3-point shot but luckily for Detroit, it was off.

Pistons coach JB Bickerstaff thinks Cunningham is entering a higher level now.

“It’s his routine. He is elite when the game is on the line,” he said.

“There are not many people in this league who can do the things that he does. … There is so much that he does.”

Pistons have now won six straight with the 2021 no. 1 pick leading the charge.

Sixers, who did not have Joel Embiid, fall to 6-4.

Cade Cunningham commends his 2 shooters

Cunningham had 11 assists in the game, the fifth time in the last six game he hit the double digit mark in that department.

Two of his recipients against the Sixers were Duncan Robinson and Caris Levert who he said were huge for them in the close game. The two games hit a combined eight threes on 14 attempts.

“They were huge for us,” he said. “We have guys who have the talent. It allows them to come in and make plays whenever they are needed. That is what’s so fun about being a part of this team.”

Ron Holland II thought the same.

“Caris is really good for us, and I’ve felt like he has been really good for us all season,” he told reporters.

“It is exciting to see him get going a little bit offensively. Once that becomes consistent, being able to come off the bench and give us that extra scoring that we need, he will continue to help this team as well.”
