The idea of Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese wearing the same jersey isn’t just fan fiction anymore. Former NBA star Gilbert Arenas is stirring the pot, calling on the Indiana Fever to swing big and make it happen.
Reese’s future in Chicago looks shaky after her blunt remarks about the Sky’s struggles went viral last week. Her words didn’t sit well inside the organization. Dallas Hoops Journal’s Ashish Mathur reported that the team is unhappy and could explore a trade this offseason.

That’s where Arenas jumped in. On Threads, he dropped his bold take:
“If I’m the Indiana Fever, I’m making a push for Angel. CC and Angel??? I’m selling out everything I’m selling!!”
He doubled down by pointing out how their skill sets would mesh.
“Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese would be a dangerous duo because they do different things and play different positions. Nobody would be bullying CC with Angel on the court 💯.”

Reese, once seen as Chicago’s long-term cornerstone, may now be looking at a different path. A Clark–Reese pairing would instantly give Indiana a new identity: Clark bombing away from deep, Reese bringing muscle and rebounding.
“It’s just competition”: Angel Reese shares insight on relationship with Caitlin Clark
The rivalry between Clark and Reese has been one of the WNBA’s biggest storylines, dating all the way back to their AAU days. Reese reminded fans that the battles were nothing personal.
“I think it’s just competition,” Reese told Complex in November 2024. “It’s been competition since college. I’ve been playing against Caitlin since we were probably in eighth or ninth grade… People don’t know the legacy of us being able to play against each other for a really long time.”
Their clash peaked during the NCAA championship, but the rivalry carried into the pros. Now, the idea of them joining forces has gone from far-fetched to plausible.

If the Fever take Arenas’ advice, one of basketball’s fiercest rivalries could flip into one of its most intriguing partnerships.
