Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark still has no return timeline from her injury recovery. With her and the Chicago Sky’s Angel Reese still out of the game, one analyst and insider gave a bold prediction on when Clark may make her epic comeback.
In an article about WNBA hot takes, ESPN insider and analyst Michael Voepel got honest about his prediction on the return timeline for Caitlin Clark.

“Both undoubtedly want to return and finish this season, but there’s likely less incentive for Reese, who last played on July 29, to return,” Voepel wrote. “The Sky (8-24) aren’t going to be a playoff team; considering their loss to Connecticut on Wednesday, they might even drop behind the Sun (6-26) for the league’s worst record.”
“Unless the bottom completely falls out, the Fever will be in the playoffs for the second year in a row after a seven-season absence,” he added. Voepel also noted that Clark might return later in the season to help elevate the Fever to a championship win.
Skip Bayless Gives Honest Skepticism About Caitlin Clark
Sports commentator Skip Bayless has ignited speculation about the severity of Caitlin Clark’s injury, suggesting the Indiana Fever and the WNBA might be downplaying its extent. Clark, the 2024 No. 1 overall pick and two‑time All‑Star, has been sidelined since July 15 with a groin injury suffered late in a win over the Connecticut Sun.
While Fever head coach Stephanie White says the guard is slowly increasing her workload, including full‑court running and on‑court movement, she has yet to rejoin practice, and no timetable has been set for her return. Clark has already missed 19 games this season.

Bayless, however, floated a more dramatic theory on his show, questioning if the injury was actually severe enough to end her season, and whether the league is withholding that information to maintain fan interest.
“Is it possible she tore her groin so badly that she’s already been privately ruled out for the rest of the season, yet the league wants to keep the media and the fans in the dark… maybe,” Bayless speculated.

The Fever, meanwhile, have managed to stay competitive in Clark’s absence, but her prolonged recovery remains a blow to both the team and the WNBA’s visibility. Clark’s star power, built during her record‑shattering Iowa career, has made her one of the league’s most marketable players.
So far this season, Caitlin Clark, in 13 games she played, averages 16.5 points per game, 8.8 assists, and 5 rebounds.
