Caitlin Clark may be sidelined from the WNBA right now, but she’s still finding ways to compete—even if it’s through golf. Over the weekend, the Fever rookie shifted her focus to the Tour Championship and threw her support behind Tommy Fleetwood, who’s in the hunt for a staggering $40 million purse.
Clark made her pick on X, writing: “This has to be Fleetwood’s day.”

It wouldn’t be the first time Fleetwood’s been in a position to close one out. He’s had his chances, but when the spotlight hits, the final stretch has often slipped away. Just earlier this month at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, he looked set to finish on top. A one-shot lead going into Sunday, then up by two with only three holes left. Instead, things unraveled fast. By the end, he trailed Justin Rose and JJ Spaun and never even made the playoff.
“I would probably put it number one”: Caitlin Clark’s favorite golf event
For Caitlin Clark, golf is more than a side interest. She’s talked plenty about her love for the game, Clark’s interest isn’t casual either—she’s long been vocal about her love for the sport. Last April, during her appearance on Under the Umbrellas, she lit up when asked about the Masters.

“Honestly, I would probably put it number one,” Clark said. “And I think it’s just so different than anything else.”
She doubled down on what makes it stand out. “There’s really just nothing like this, and I think the aspect of not having your phone is so unique. Like, you can tell that everybody is so invested, and they’re really just there to watch the greatness of the athletes. There’s just a peacefulness about it.”
For now, Clark is stuck in recovery mode, nursing a groin injury that has her out of action. Indiana hopes she can return in time to help with a playoff push, but if not, she’ll have plenty of offseason to scratch that competitive itch on the golf course instead.
