When Paige Bueckers got picked No. 1 by the Dallas Wings, the Caitlin Clark comparisons weren’t just expected—they were unavoidable. And now that we’re deep into the WNBA season, the buzz around both rookies is only getting louder.

Clark’s been the face of the league since she arrived, but former NBA guard Patrick Beverley? He’s starting to see things tilt.
“She nice. Paige [Bueckers] is nice,” Bev said on The Pat Bev Pod this week. “Caitlin Clark was also Rookie of the Year, correct? So if Paige Bueckers was fastest to reach these milestones, that would say that she was statistically better than Caitlin Clark.”
His point? Bueckers just became the fastest in league history to reach 350 points and 100 assists—did it in 20 games flat. And at game 22, she tied Cynthia Cooper’s mark from 1997 by hitting 400 points and 100 assists, per The Dallas Hoops Journal.
Stats aside, Bueckers is making waves in other areas too. All-Star votes? She pulled in 805,471—beating Clark’s record from last year by over 100K. Rookie of the Month honors? She’s got two so far, half of what Clark earned in her first season.

But not everyone’s flipping sides. Bev’s co-host, Adam Ferrone, isn’t sold yet. He reminded listeners that Clark broke several records as a rookie and has been holding it down for the Fever even through injury setbacks.
Caitlin Clark vs Paige Bueckers: What’s the real score?
The only on-court meeting between the two so far came earlier this year—and Clark definitely made her presence felt. She finished with 14 points, 13 dimes, five steals, and three boards, helping Indiana take a dominant 102–83 win. Bueckers, though, was sharp in her own right—18 points on 9-of-15 shooting with four assists and four rebounds.

That might be the last head-to-head we see for a bit. Clark’s only played 13 games this season due to muscle issues, and the Fever haven’t given a clear update on her status. The Wings head to Indy next week, but her availability is still a question mark.
For now? It’s anyone’s race. The numbers are there. The moments are building. And the rivalry? Just getting warmed up.
