Caitlin Clark has been sidelined for much of the season, but that hasn’t kept her from making an impact. Washington Mystics rookie Sonia Citron recently praised Clark’s presence during the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game, saying she felt more like a coach than a bystander.

Clark was supposed to captain her squad, but a groin injury left her in street clothes. Instead of sitting quietly, she handed out advice, and Citron soaked it in.

“It was good, yeah,” Citron said. “I think she’s a great coach, you know, she was just telling us to shoot a lot of threes, which I like. So yeah, great coach.”

Team Clark fell 151-131 to Team Collier, but Citron said those tips stuck. The No. 3 pick has already been impressive, averaging 15 points and 4 rebounds while knocking down over 44 percent of her threes. That production has her in the Rookie of the Year race alongside Paige Bueckers.

Back in Indiana, Clark has also been helping out with the Fever’s coaching staff while rehabbing. Head coach Stephanie White noted that stepping into that role has given the star guard a fresh perspective.

Caitlin Clark’s love for the three-pointer

Her favorite weapon remains no secret. In a lighthearted video tied to her partnership with Eli Lilly, Caitlin Clark fielded questions from young fans. When 12-year-old Delaney asked if she preferred mid-range jumpers or shots from deep, her answer came without hesitation.

“3-pointers! That’s easy. That’s not even a question,” Clark said.

Her rookie numbers back that up. Clark hit 122 threes, finishing just six shy of Sabrina Ionescu’s single-season mark. What makes it more impressive is her range — she wasn’t just stepping behind the line, she was pulling from nearly 29 feet on average.

This year, though, her rhythm was disrupted. Clark only managed 13 appearances before her groin injury ended the campaign. She still connected on 29 threes, but it was far from the volume fans had gotten used to.

Even with her season cut short, Clark has found ways to stay involved — whether it’s coaching in an exhibition game, encouraging her teammates, or reminding everyone why her logo threes became must-watch moments in the first place.
