What’s the best way to play with your team when you can’t play with them? Be the 6th man. Supporting your teammates physically rather than spiritually has its own advantages. And with Caitlin Clark doing just that, she got to witness quite a performance from the Fever.
CC was visibly moved after her Indiana Fever teammates pulled off a clutch win in Game 2 of the playoffs, and one comment stood out among the reactions. After Lexie Hull nailed a buzzer-beater three-pointer with under a second left, Clark posted,

“Can’t explain what I felt in this moment.”

That wasn’t the end. Lexie Hull’s mom, Jaimie Hull, replied under Clark’s post, writing,
“@CaitlinClark22 Same kiddo, Same!! I do know I had literal chills though!!” The shared emotion lit up social media.
Down, out, but never non-existent. Injured or no, she is still maintaining a presence within the team through her consistent love, support, and simply just showing up. And that can add a force multiplier for the team, even if she never gets to hold the ball.
Lexie Hull’s buzzer-beater gave the Fever a 77-60 win in Game 2 vs. the Atlanta Dream, tying the series 1-1, and kept their playoff hopes alive. Key plays from Kelsey Mitchell, Aliyah Boston, Natasha Howard, and Hull carried them when they needed it.
Clark’s emotional nod and Jaimie Hull’s response show how much tight moments in basketball mean—especially when a rookie steps up. Even from the bench, Clark is still a heartbeat for Indiana.
Indiana Fever Stay Alive Amid Caitlin Clark’s Absence
It is no news that Caitlin Clark’s downtime will extend all the way beyond the end of the WNBA 2025 season. That groin injury has put her to the side far longer than what everyone expected. Nevertheless, the Fever is still on their game face as there is still a glimmer of hope in spite of the heavy burden CC’s void has left.

After a loss in Game 1, the Fever bounced back at home, winning 77-60. Lexie Hull sank a dramatic three at the end of the third quarter; Mitchell, Boston, and Howard contributed heavily.
Interim sources say that although Clark can’t play, she’s been vocal in messages to the team and fans, urging support and energy from the sidelines.
Now, Fever must win Game 3 in Atlanta to advance. With Clark’s season over, the team is being tested—but Game 2 proved they can still get the job done when it matters most.
