Caitlin Clark fans recently demonstrated a keen eye for misinformation as one fan called out analyst and sports broadcaster Chiney Ogwumike for a mistake in her commentary about Clark and USC Trojan star JuJu Watkins.

Chiney Ogwumike, an ESPN analyst and former WNBA star, apologized after incorrectly stating that USC guard JuJu Watkins had surpassed Caitlin Clark for the most points scored in the first two seasons of NCAA Division I play. A Caitlin Clark fan called out Ogwumike for the misinformation during ESPN’s coverage of the Women’s March Madness.

The fan posted in response to Ogwumike’s statement: “Mind you, Kelsey Mitchell still holds that record. The disrespect and misinformation is insane.”

“did you know juju watkins has the most points through two seasons in the history of basketball out of anybody else”

The host immediately acknowledged the mistake and responded to the fans (and in turn, to every other fan of Clark) about the mixup.

“My bad y’all!” Ogwumike said. “I saw a graphic during the break that was wrong stating that but should have known better!”

my bad y’all! I saw a graphic during the break that was wrong stating that but should have known better! I love Kels!! 🤍🙏🏿

The analyst also added: “I love Kels!!”

Kelsey Mitchell, Clark’s Indiana Fever teammate and former Ohio State star, still holds the record for most points scored in a player’s first two seasons with 1,762 points. While Watkins did surpass Clark’s 1,662 points, she only ranks second to Mitchell.

Caitlin Clark and JuJu Watkins are often compared and pitted against each other due to their exceptional talent and dominance in women’s basketball.

Clark, a standout player for Iowa, has been a scoring machine and playmaking force, breaking records and earning accolades throughout her college career. Watkins, a rising star at USC, has quickly established herself as one of the best players in the game, surpassing some of Clark’s records early in her career.

While the two stars are from different eras of college basketball, many fans consider them rivals in the sense of being two of the greatest names to ever grace the college basketball scene.
