The Indiana Fever opened the WNBA semifinals with a statement, cruising past the Las Vegas Aces 89-73 despite being without Caitlin Clark and four other key players to season-ending injuries.
While the win gave Indiana early momentum in the series, much of the postgame conversation centered on A’ja Wilson. Just days removed from securing her record-setting fourth MVP award, Wilson skipped media duties following the lopsided loss.

Fans on social media pounced, with one calling her a “coward” for ducking questions after a poor performance. That jab reached Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green, who stepped in to defend Wilson.
“A coward is a strong word,” Green wrote. “Sometimes you just don’t want to talk. But you probably wouldn’t know what that’s like… also not sure ‘whopping’ fits there.”
When another fan chimed in that the Aces “got belt to ass,” Green clapped back again:
“Not speaking after a game loss doesn’t make you a coward… go build a bridge and get over it.”
“Funny Sense Of Humor”: Caitlin Clark Gets Shoutout From Kelsey Mitchell Over $200 Fine Joke
While Wilson absorbed criticism, Caitlin Clark managed to draw laughs. The rookie guard, sidelined by injury, was fined $200 for her comments on officiating during the Fever’s Game 1 victory.
Kelsey Mitchell, who torched the Aces with 34 points on 52% shooting, addressed the fine during her ESPN interview.

“I’m pretty sure somebody took care of it for her,” Mitchell said. “I love it because, as much people don’t know this about Caitlin, she has an unbelievable funny sense of humor.”
Mitchell added that Clark’s remarks were her way of rallying around the team.
“You just have to know CC to know that it’s nothing but love coming from that kid. Her energy and her effort to support our team is just her way of doing it.”
For Indiana, Mitchell’s dominance on the floor and Clark’s presence off it fueled the upset win. With a 1-0 lead over the heavily favored Aces, the Fever are suddenly eyeing a surprise run to the Finals.
