Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham might’ve seen Kelsey Mitchell wear an Indiana Fever jersey for the last time.
After the Fever fell to the Las Vegas Aces in the WNBA semifinals, Mitchell took to Instagram on Sunday to post what felt like a goodbye letter. The veteran guard, set to become an unrestricted free agent, looked back on a year filled with highs, pain, and plenty of fight.

“Had to get to it different than everybody else. grief had me excited for a small piece of it…indifferent for majority of it,” Kelsey Mitchell wrote. “charged it ALL to the game. ain’t no life jacket come for me, word to Him.
“Pops blueprint kept me in survival mode…that survival made me. i don’t know what it all really meant….just that it meant i stood on all 10 about it. the motto remains: shut up and go hunting. zero, gone.”
Her post quickly filled up with love from teammates. Clark dropped in the comments,
“So lucky to be ur teammate !!! Proud of u kels,” while Sophie Cunningham added, “everyone’s GOAT.”
Mitchell’s impact this season was undeniable. She finished fifth in the MVP race, earned her first All-WNBA First Team spot, and helped carry a banged-up Fever squad to their first semifinals appearance in years.
“I hope it stays that way”: Caitlin Clark on Kelsey Mitchell’s uncertain future
Despite the looming uncertainty, Caitlin Clark made it clear she doesn’t want this to be goodbye. After Mitchell’s All-WNBA selection, she shared a message through the Fever’s social media channels.

“Kelsey! Congratulations! First-Team All-WNBA! Truly nobody more deserving,” Clark said. “It was incredible getting to watch you from the front row, literally every single night.
“What you did for our team was just amazing, and I couldn’t be happier for you. I’m so lucky to be your teammate, and I hope it stays that way for many more years to come. Proud of you.”

Mitchell didn’t miss a single game last season, leading by example until an injury sidelined her in Game 5 against the Aces. Indiana lost in overtime, ending their playoff run — but if this truly was her last run in a Fever uniform, she went out doing exactly what she’s always done: compete to the very end.
