Comedian Whitney Cummings had no problem shooting her shot—sort of—when she playfully admitted to having a crush on Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark.

The “2 Broke Girls” creator posted on X (formerly Twitter): “I went to the ESPYs to stalk @CaitlinClark22 and she wasn’t even there 🥲 sorry about my crush on her Chris Cobra Cole 😬.” The tweet drew laughter and love from fans of both Cummings and Clark, with some joking that the comedian just joined Clark’s ever-growing fan club.
Cummings has never been shy about admiring women in sports, but her shoutout to Clark came with a level of openness that social media quickly turned into a viral moment. Whether or not Clark saw the post is unknown, but her name continues to trend—even when she’s not on the court.

Caitlin Clark’s influence has started to seep through the cracks and has been growing even outside the white lines of the hard court. From NBA players, to athletes of other sports, and from influencers to the known stars of entertainment, she has been sending waves way beyond. And the list continues to grow. Too early to say up until where the limits of her scope will reach, but it has been consistently growing regardless of how she’s been showing up, or the lack thereof, on the court.
Despite not attending the ESPYs, Clark still stole some of the spotlight. A fitting sign of the times when even her absence becomes newsworthy.
Caitlin Clark Injury Update: Donald Trump and Others Still Mention Her Name Despite Ongoing Absence
The Caitlin Clark effect continues—even as she remains sidelined.
On Sunday, WISH-TV News confirmed Clark would miss her seventh straight game due to a lingering groin injury. The Fever guard has not played since early July, and fans are getting restless, hoping for her return as Indiana clings to postseason hopes.
“CLARK INJURY UPDATE: Caitlin Clark has been ruled out of Sunday’s game in Seattle due to her groin injury. This will be Clark’s 7th straight game missed,” reported WISH-TV on X.

Even off the court, her name pops up in unexpected places. Donald Trump mentioned Clark last month during a rally, grouping her with “real American talent” alongside Olympic swimmer Katie Ledecky and gymnast Simone Biles. Trump didn’t get into specifics, but the inclusion alone shows just how large her presence looms—politics or not.
Caitlin Clark may not be playing, but her visibility hasn’t faded. She’s still a headline, a talking point, and for fans like Whitney Cummings, apparently a bit of a heartthrob too.
