Caitlin Clark’s name was dragged into a conversation surrounding TIME magazine honoring A’ja Wilson as their Athlete of the Year, by none other than Jason Whitlock. Whitlock clearly could not accept that Wilson had won the award and, of course, felt that Clark was the reason behind it, as everything he says.
Whitlock, who has turned out to be Caitlin Clark’s biggest cheerleader, in turn putting down every other female athlete, discussed the topic on the latest episode of his podcast, even going on to share a list of other potential candidates who he thinks are incredible options for the title.

“When I was thinking of the legitimate candidates for athletes in 2025, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Myles Garrett, Matt Stafford, Scottie Scheffler won two majors and would likely be the golfer of the year. This bending over backwards and pandering to women and pandering to the WNBA. Without Caitlin Clark, everybody knows no way in hell A’ja Wilson sniffs this award,” Jason Whitlock said.

Caitlin Clark did manage to win TIME magazine’s Athlete of the Year award last year, which was applauded loudly all over the world. Meanwhile, A’ja Wilson herself has had an incredible year, leading the Aces to the championships, while Clark hardly churned out anything in this most recent campaign. While many do feel that Wilson definitely deserves her crown, some, like Whitlock, are dead against it and feel that she has won because of Clark’s influence.
Caitlin Clark Fails To Make Most Googled Athlete List
While Caitlin Clark may be pretty famous, Jason Whitlock and many other strong fans were definitely blown away when it was reported that her name was nowhere to be found in the top ten most Googled athletes of the year. Not just Clark, but even TIME honoree A’ja Wilson did not make the list.

Funnily enough, it was Clark’s Fever teammate, Sophie Cunningham, who was the sole woman to make the list, where she was placed seventh. Cunningham has been banging on her drum loud and proud ever since the team she entered the Fever roster, with many fans taking notice of the baller for the very first time, despite her playing in the W for a decent period of time.
Cunningham has managed to steal the spotlight from Clark, despite her being in the legend’s shadow this year. Cunningham’s podcast with her childhood friend has also definitely added to her popularity.
