Caitlin Clark and JuJu Watkins have been one of the most compared names for great college basketball players. While both have a lot of awards, accolades, and achievements to list down, opinions have remained varied across the industry. For one former NFL star, Watkins is a notch above Caitlin Clark.

In one of his recent videos, former NFL MVP and Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton got honest about his take on the comparison between Caitlin Clark and JuJu Watkins. For the former footballer, the choice is obvious.

“Juju is a bigger baller than Caitlin Clark,” Newton said, comparing the two college basketball stars. “The statistics say what everybody needs to know. JuJu is a better athlete than Caitlin Clark, that’s not saying Caitlin Clark ain’t good because she is f**king phenomenal. She has been what the game is missing and I love that for her.”

JuJu Watkins is having a standout performance for the 2024-2025 season. She has been named the Big Ten Player of the Year, leading USC to the Big Ten regular-season championship and achieving eight consecutive victories over AP-ranked opponents.

Watkins has also made history by becoming the first Division I player since 2000 to record 38 points, 11 rebounds, 8 blocks, and 5 assists in a single game.

Statistically, Watkins is averaging 24.6 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game, showcasing her all-around dominance. She has set multiple records, including being the fastest Power Five women’s basketball player to reach 1,000 career points and scoring a career-high 51 points in a single game against Stanford.

JuJu Watkins has broken a record previously held by Caitlin Clark this season. Watkins surpassed Clark’s mark for the most 30-point games against ranked opponents by a women’s college basketball player through their first two seasons. Additionally, Watkins became the fastest Power Five player to reach 1,000 career points, achieving the milestone in just 38 games, compared to Caitin Clark’s 40 games.

Caitlin Clark Gets Thanked by JuJu Watkins

In an interview, USC Trojans star player JuJu Watkins expressed gratitude knowing that Caitlin Clark is in full support of her and her career in college.

“‘I haven’t yet reached out [to Clark],'” said Watkins, while speaking about her new partnership with Degree. ‘Maybe. I mean, just to know that I have that support, it means a lot.'”

Caitlin Clark herself has been quoted in the past expressing her appreciation over Watkins’ basketball skills, saying: “She’s obviously really talented and her game speaks for itself.”
