Indiana Fever star and reigning Rookie of The Year Caitlin Clark will be reunited with friend and former Iowa teammate Kate Martin, one way or the other. At least that’s what Matt Miller, Kate Martin’s father, believes.
In an interview Kate Martin’s father touched on the friendship of the two since their college days in Iowa, and how Caitlin played a huge role in shaping Kate’s confidence in playing basketball.
“I think Caitlin believed in Kate even when Kate didn’t believe in herself,” Miller said. “I think she saw the potential in Kate and really helped kinda give Kate confidence.”
Despite parting ways and playing for different teams in the WNBA, Matt thinks that the paths of the two good friends will someday cross again.
“I just don’t think Caitlin and Kate are done,” he added. “I think they’ll be reunited in some way again.”
USA Today reporter Megan L. Hall called Kate Martin one of the biggest “winners” of the expansion draft, and that getting to play for the new Golden State expansion team is her “living the dream.”
“Martin went from not knowing if she would be drafted to being selected by the two-time champion Las Vegas Aces and (being mentored by A’ja Wilson), and now she gets to go to Golden State with Natalie Nakase, a coach from during her time with Las Vegas,” Hall said in her piece.
“You can’t make this kind of stuff up,” she added. “This is totally awesome and one heck of a story for Martin. She should thrive under the Valkyries because she has room to grow with less pressure, and she can continue to learn from Nakase and the team’s veteran leadership.”
Caitlin Clark Generated Almost 50% of WNBA Broadcast Revenue—“Valuation Guru”
There is no question that Caitlin Clark is one of the most sought-after names in the world of sports right now. In fact, she is reportedly worth $100,0000 for just a half-hour of virtual panel discussion. But the question is how much value does Clark actually bring to the WNBA?
In a comprehensive report from the Indianapolis Star that calculated the “value” of Caitlin Clark, “valuation guru” Dr. Ryan Brewer stated that per calculations, Clark brought WNBA viewership up by 300%, with 45% of the broadcast revenue due to her. She also influenced merch sales, bringing it up by 500%.
Caitlin Clark sits at #1 for merch sales, with Chicago Sky’s Angel Reese at #2 spot.
