Even when the conversation isn’t about her, Caitlin Clark somehow ends up in the center of the debate. That happened again on Monday during Carmelo Anthony’s “7 PM in Brooklyn” podcast, when Kysre Gondrezick — Angel Reese’s former teammate with the Chicago Sky — was handed a fun hypothetical: Clark vs. Sue Bird in a 1-on-1.
Co-host Kazeem Famuyide tossed her the matchup. Gondrezick didn’t blink.
“I’m taking Caitlin.”

She doubled down right after, breaking down why she’d lean toward the younger guard over a legend who spent nearly two decades running the Storm.
“The reason why I say Caitlin is that she is a scoring point guard,” she said. “Sue has mastered being a facilitator, and she makes her shots when it is important. But Caitlin’s confidence. She comes off as ‘I’m shooting first,’ I’m taking her because of her scoring mentality, it comes instinctively for her.”
That’s a bold pick considering most people still default to Bird when you bring up all-time guards. Bird carved out 19 seasons in Seattle, put up 11.7 points, 2.5 boards, and 5.6 assists, and guided the Storm to four titles. Still, even with all that on her résumé, Gondrezick didn’t hesitate. Interestingly, when a different match came up — Clark vs. Diana Taurasi — she flipped and went with Taurasi.
Team USA sees Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese, and co. for training camp
Clark and Reese don’t cross paths often outside WNBA season drama, but they’re about to be teammates again. Both were included on Team USA’s training camp roster — 18 players heading to Duke University from December 12–14.

Along with Clark and Reese, the list is stacked: Paige Bueckers, Juju Watkins, Cameron Brink, Jackie Young, Kahleah Cooper, Kelsey Plum, Rickea Jackson, Aliyah Boston, Brittney Griner, Sonia Citron, Kiki Iriafen, Veronica Burton, Chelsea Gray, Dearica Hamby, Brionna Jones, and Lauren Betts.
For Clark’s fans, her call-up is huge simply because they haven’t seen her suit up since July. Injuries cut her sophomore season down to just 13 games, though she still averaged 16.5 points and 8.8 assists before the setbacks hit.
