Caitlin Clark and Kate Martin have proven that no WNBA rivalry can shake the bond they built back in college.
The two spent four years together at Iowa, and that connection has carried into the pros. Even though Clark now runs the floor for the Indiana Fever while Martin suits up for the Golden State Valkyries, they’ve stayed close.
On Monday, Martin posted a few snapshots on Instagram showing life with her new team both on and off the court.

“Just keeping it chill per usual,” she captioned.
Clark quickly dropped into the comments, firing off a couple of notes to her longtime friend.
“Luh u twin,” she wrote in one.
“So chill,” she added in another.
Plenty of Martin’s Valkyries teammates joined in the fun. Kaitlyn Chen called her “the best glizzy griller out there,” while Veronica Burton joked, “just chillin and grillin.” Former Valkyries guard Julie Vanloo added, “Lysm.”
Candid moment between Caitlin Clark and Kate Martin
It wasn’t the first time the former Hawkeyes have shown love for each other this season. When the Fever faced the Valkyries on August 31, Caitlin Clark was sidelined with an injury but still made sure to connect with her old teammate after the game.

Indiana lost that night, 75-63, but Martin made the most of her minutes off the bench. She chipped in 10 points and two rebounds in 15 minutes of action. Clark snapped a photo with her afterward and posted it on her story with the words, “proud of you.”
The moment said it all: even as pros, the two haven’t drifted.
Clark has missed much of the year with injuries, cutting her season short after just 13 games. Martin, on the other hand, has carved out a steady role in Golden State’s backcourt and will be back in action Tuesday when the Valkyries close out their regular season against the Seattle Storm before heading into the playoffs.

For now, Clark and Martin might be on different paths, but their friendship keeps showing up in small ways — whether in comment sections or postgame photos. It’s clear the Hawkeye bond is still alive and well.
