A new report has thrown cold water on the idea that Caitlin Clark had anything to do with Steph Curry leaving Under Armour. The rumor spread fast online, with people suggesting that the brand’s failure to sign Caitlin Clark pushed Curry to walk away. But Soul Retriever shut that talk down with strong words. “Clickbait Debunked: Multiple sources very close to the situation tell Soul Retriever it’s ‘absolutely insane’ to suggest that not signing Caitlin Clark was the reason Steph Curry left Under Armour,” the outlet reported.

Caitlin Clark has been one of the most talked-about athletes of the past year, so it’s no surprise that her name got dragged into a major story involving a superstar like Curry. But the new details point to something much simpler. Curry’s partnership with Under Armour lasted more than a decade, and his exit came after long internal talks about direction, branding, and what he wanted to build next. Those matters take years to shape, and not one missed signing.

Fans pushed the theory because Caitlin Clark is a huge star with massive influence, especially among young fans. And while that makes her important in the market, the report says tying her to Curry’s decision is a big reach.

This update also puts focus back on how fast stories can grow online when a major name like Caitlin Clark is involved. It shows that people sometimes build narratives that sound interesting, even if the facts don’t add up.

Steph Curry’s next destination is an open book and maybe a blank check, but we can put to rest that Caitlin Clark had anything to do with that.

Why Caitlin Clark Became a Convenient Target in the Steph Curry Rumors

The talk linking Steph Curry’s exit from Under Armour to Caitlin Clark did not appear out of nowhere. Her rise has been so strong that she gets pulled into almost every big basketball story, and this one was no different. But Soul Retriever’s follow-up report showed how far the rumor had drifted from reality. “Sources added, ‘While not signing Caitlin was a point of frustration, it was NOT at all the straw that broke the camel’s back.’ [writing hand emoji description],” the outlet wrote.

Curry worked with Under Armour for years, helped build their basketball line, and shaped an entire signature shoe line. A decision like his involves contracts, long-term vision, and internal plans that fans rarely see.

Caitlin Clark became the easy name to point at because her influence is massive. She moves crowds, boosts ratings, and brings attention wherever she goes. That kind of star power makes her a headline magnet. This situation shows how quick people are to tie her to anything major, even when the facts say otherwise.

The report makes it clear that the story grew far beyond what really happened. Caitlin Clark had nothing to do with the deeper issues that shaped Curry’s decision. She was simply the latest name thrown into an already complicated conversation.
