WNBA rising star Caitlin Clark is taking a page from Steph Curry’s playbook on how to unwind after a tough game. Following her appearance at this year’s Masters Tournament, Clark’s growing love for golf may become her go-to escape from the pressures of a high-profile basketball career.
Speaking on Under The Umbrellas with host Kira K. Dixon, Clark shared how Curry’s approach to decompressing inspired her. “I think understanding how much I enjoy this, and how peaceful it is, is such a nice way to get away from basketball and what your reality is every single day,” Clark said. “Just to do something to calm your mind and be away from people.”
She recalled one of her favorite stories about Curry: “He had just lost and didn’t play very well. The next day they had off, and he didn’t want to go to the gym—he wanted to go to the golf course. Next day, he came out and had 45 points.”
Caitlin Clark may have been referring to the 2015 NBA Playoffs, when Curry and then-teammate Andre Iguodala hit the golf course after a tough Game 3 loss. Golden State bounced back, winning two straight games en route to Curry’s first NBA title.
Curry, known for his sharpshooting and golf skills, often uses the sport as an outlet during the off-season. In 2023, he received the PGA’s Ambassador of Golf Award, recognizing both his talent and his passion for the game.

Like Curry, Clark seems to be embracing the calming nature of golf while keeping a competitive edge as she’s about to share her golfing talents with her teammates soon.
A round of golf with Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fevers?
Following Caitlin Clark’s appearance at this year’s The Masters, the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year might’ve found a new sport to play with her teammates off the court.
In an interview with the “Under The Umbrellas” show hosted by Kira K. Dixon, Clark said, “It’s funny, I have a lot of teammates that also don’t play, and we talk about it and they’re like ‘I see you play golf and I really want to try.’ It’s like they want me to help them get into it, which I think is super cute,” Clark said. “And I don’t think they realize how hard it’s gonna be, but they’re like, ‘I don’t know how to swing a golf club.’ And I’m like, ‘I’ll help you!’
Clark added, “They want to go out and play, so we’re going to find some courses in Indianapolis and get out there.”

Fever fans might soon find themselves cheering for their squad not just on the hardwood but on the fairway, too.
