While fans are still waiting for Caitlin Clark‘s trademark deep shooting to heat up, they’ve seen something else just as valuable: her underrated floor general skills. The Indiana Fever superstar dished out 13 assists to secure the team’s 102-83 victory against the Dallas Wings on Sunday.

However, Clark’s best moment arguably came mid-second quarter, and it had nothing to do with three-pointers. After blocking JJ Quinerly’s shot, the former Iowa standout launched a full-court pass, slicing through three defenders before landing to Sophie Cunningham for a fastbreak finish.
Cunningham also made sure Caitlin Clark’s quarterback-like pass would never go unmentioned. After the match, she posted on Instagram, showing her pre-game outfit, impressive on-court moments, and most importantly, a close highlight of her fastbreak thanks to Clark’s antics.
“you know what, HELL YEA FEVER NATION,” Cunningham wrote.

Caitlin Clark then wrote: “Touchdownnnnnnn. That’s that football experience baby,” showing that her love for football remains present on the court. The post lit up the comments section. Lexie Hull chimed in with “fire me upppppp 🤪” while Aliyah Boston added “HELL YEAHHHHHH🔥🔥🔥.”
Other than her impressive assists, Clark also scored 14 points, three rebounds, a whopping five steals, two blocks, and two turnovers. While the TOs have been improving, the scoring efficiency (4-on-12) remains a huge concern for the superstar guard. But seeing her previous games, it’s apparent that she’s free from the so-called “sophomore slump.”

Moreover, Caitlin Clark’s poor shooting doesn’t scream an emergency for the Fever. Kelsey Mitchell led the team with 20 points, while Natasha Howard and Aliyah Boston had 18 and 17. Cunningham dished 13 points.
Caitlin Clark impressed after getting a WNBA record vs Dallas
Other than defeating Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings, Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever also tied a franchise record for the most assists in a game, with 30, with Clark contributing big-time with 13. During the post-match interview, the Fever guard also felt proud that HC Stephanie White’s game plans have been working 100% in their previous games.
“30 assists on 40 made shots is about as good as it’s gonna get. That’s really impressive and I think it just shows the selflessness of this group,” Clark said. “That’s something that ‘Steph’ always preaches and something she always talks about — how many of our field goals are assisted.”

White’s strategy, dubbed the “Point-Five Basketball,” involved players making crucial ball decisions in half a second. And so far, it has been deeply efficient for the Caitlin Clark-led Fever. They’ll face the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday.
