Caitlin Clark was on the bad side of veteran journalist Jason Whitlock as he sharply criticized her attire during the TIME event, where she won the magazine’s Athlete of the Year award.

Whitlock had been a supporter of Caitlin Clark throughout the past WNBA season. However, he never shied away from disapproving of the Indiana Fever star’s “slut dress,” launching a series of posts on his X/Twitter account to rebuke her attire straightly.

“The faux celebration of Caitlin Clark wearing this slut dress is how you know she’s been captured,” Whitlock tweeted.

The faux celebration of Caitlin Clark wearing this slut dress is how you know she’s been captured. She looks ridiculous. She’s off brand. She’s girl next door but they want your daughters thinking you have to slut it up no matter how accomplished you are. pic.twitter.com/w46AGisqNd

“She looks ridiculous. She’s off brand. She’s girl next door but they want your daughters thinking you have to slut it up no matter how accomplished you are”

According to Whitlock, Clark’s agents are the perpetrators behind her attire, believing to be manipulating her for their own “doctrines.”

“She’s not making these decisions. Nike, her agents. A band of handlers are indoctrinating her into the lifestyle/occult/feminism/sexual liberation. She has no idea what’s happening right now. She’s a hick along for the ride. She thinks she’s empowering young girls,”Whitlock added.

Whitlock also posted a photo showing Clark’s hairstyle like Megan Rapinoe’s, a soccer player and a member of the LGBT+ Community. He then captioned “The Process,” further elaborating his criticisms.

Since her debut at the WNBA, Caitlin Clark has been everyone’s praise, acknowledging her exceeding talent. However, she also received criticisms from some like Whitlock, who wholly delves into her significant effect on women’s basketball and sports.

Caitlin Clark faces “reverse racism,” according to veteran reporter

Caitlin Clark adds another factor to her young legacy as TIME granted her their Athlete of the Year accolade. People have long made remarks about the WNBA star and praises and censures alike. However, for Stephen A. Smith, Clark’s criticisms come from bitterness due to her race.

Smith brought the “Caitlin Clark effect” in his show, albeit raised how some players and fans seemingly resent her for being “white.”

“Her presence led to higher ratings, improved travel for players and increased salaries for women across the league. And that’s where I was going to go. That’s why she deserves the Athlete of the Year,” Smith said.

“You know what? She’s white. … Call it whatever you want. I’m not going to go as far as to say reverse racism.”

Smith also believed some don’t fully appreciate Caitlin Clark’s talent. He added that Clark, an “ambassador,” made big changes to the WNBA and changed people’s lives. The reporter then concluded, calling the Indiana Fever star a “sister” who “looks out for the sisters and everybody else in between.”
