While Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham have both been fined this season for taking digs at officiating, their Indiana Fever teammate Aliyah Boston chose a more cautious path after Tuesday’s Game 2 semifinal loss to the Las Vegas Aces.
The matchup was heavy on contact — bodies hitting the deck and players fighting through bumps — but Boston avoided outright criticism when asked about the whistle.

“Going by some of the fouls, the way it was going looks like we were almost too physical,” Boston said. “But yet at the same time, we have to be able to get that on the other end.”
She pointed out that the Fever’s defensive mismatches played into the roughness, since smaller guards often have no choice but to foul. Still, Boston made sure not to cross the line with officials.
“Hey, I’m here to hoop, so none of my business,” she added, sidestepping any trouble.
Her restraint stood in contrast to Clark and Cunningham, who have been far more vocal. Caitlin Clark was docked $200 for an Instagram comment after Indiana’s comeback against Atlanta, where she praised the bench and added that “even the refs couldn’t stop us.” Cunningham, meanwhile, has been fined multiple times for remarks made on her podcast and TikTok.
“$200 is sooo funny”: Plaisance reacts to Caitlin Clark’s fine
Even on the sideline with a groin injury, Caitlin Clark has been in the middle of things — celebrating, hyping the bench, and staying vocal. But her online jab at the refs cost her. The league levied a $200 penalty, which sparked plenty of reaction across social media.

Former Las Vegas Aces forward Theresa Plaisance caught wind of the story and couldn’t help but laugh at the relatively small fine.
“$200 is sooo funny though lol. Keep on letting em know @caitlinclark22 😂😂😂 you got that!!” Plaisance commented under a Yahoo Sports post.
Clark herself shrugged it off with humor, sharing the news on X and doubling down on her bench energy.
“Got fined $200 for this lol😂😂😂😂😂BENCH MOB WILL BE EVEN MORE ROWDY TOMORROW LETS GOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!” she wrote

Boston may be taking the diplomatic route, but it’s clear that Clark — fines or not — has no intention of quieting down anytime soon.
