Caitlin Clark disappointed fans some time back when it was announced that she is definitely not playing in the Unrivaled League set to commence in January, next year. While there were no reasons mentioned as to why Clark is not playing in this new 3-on-3 tournament, her recent interview with TIME magazine threw some light on the matter.
Clark has been thoroughly enjoying her offseason in the WNBA. After finishing her debut season with the ‘Rookie of the Year’ award, Clark took a seat back to relax and focus on her hobbies and her favorite pastimes. Among these, the Indiana Fever star managed to show up at a couple of golf pro-ams, much to the delight of her fans.
Caitlin Clark was also seen supporting her boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, at Butler Bulldogs games, where he coaches. With her chilling out in the offseason, it was rumored that Clark would definitely not shy away from playing in the Unrivaled League, started by Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier. However, the star had other plans to lift weights and work out in the gym.
“It’s going to be good for me to do my own thing and have my own space. I kind of want to just stay out of the spotlight.” Clark remarked to TIME magazine.
The main motive behind the Unrivaled League is to allow WNBA players to play inside the country during the offseason and also make some big bucks, according to Breanna Stewart. Compared to other current leagues in women’s basketball, the Unrivaled League boasts the highest salary caps for players today, making it a one-of-a-kind event.
