Caitlin Clark once again went viral Monday night—this time for going off on the refs during the Indiana Fever’s 78-74 win over the Seattle Storm.

Late in the first quarter at Climate Pledge Arena, the Fever were up 17-15 when an obvious foul on Seattle went uncalled. Caitlin Clark jumped to her feet and shouted, “You were right in front of her,” clearly frustrated by the no-call.
It’s not the first time Clark’s gotten into it with the officials. Back in July, during a game against the Connecticut Sun—where she also suffered a right groin injury—Clark had to be physically held back by her coach after reacting to another controversial call.

Her growing tension with referees has caught attention. Jason Whitlock, on his Fearless podcast, didn’t hold back, saying if Caitlin Clark keeps this up, she’s bound to lead the Indiana Fever “straight to hell.”
“You can never build it around one”: WNBA Commissioner issues stark Caitlin Clark warning after salary stunt continues
Off the court, Caitlin Clark’s impact is just as loud. During the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game, she and Napheesa Collier walked out in black shirts that read: “Pay Us What You Owe Us,” calling for better compensation as the standoff over the league’s new CBA drags on.
WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert was even booed at Gainbridge Fieldhouse before the All-Star Game, a sign of the growing tension between players and the league.

Speaking to the Daily Mail in her first appearance since then, Engelbert praised Clark, but made it clear the league can’t rely on just one face.
“Caitlin’s such a great player and a great person. We’re so thrilled to have her, and she’s been such a great representative of the league,” Engelbert said.
“You have to build your league and market around all of your players and your stars. And we’ve built household names. You can never build it around one,” she added.
Clark’s second WNBA season continues to break records, with more nationally-televised games, packed arenas, and growing fan interest following her every move.
