The Indiana Fever have been proving the doubters wrong as they continue to thrive without their superstar, Caitlin Clark. The Fever are currently on a roll at the back of their five-game winning streak, all the while dealing with Clark’s injury on a day-to-day basis.

While many still believe that Clark’s leadership is still needed to steer the Fever towards a deep playoff run this season, Jason Whitlock expressed his thoughts on how the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year may hurt the Fever once she’s back on the hardwood.
On Monday’s episode of the Fearless podcast, Whitlock talked about how the Fever squad have been moving up in the standings without Clark and how they are less engaged with referees, leading them to a more relaxed environment that helps them focus on winning.
“She’s the most dynamic female athlete we’ve ever seen in the WNBA. People follow her lead, her teammates follow her lead,” said Whitlock. “And a lot of times, with the whining with the refs and with the lack of attention on defense, she leads them straight to hell.”
Whitlock pointed out how her teammates Aaliyah Boston and Sophie Cunningham, both known to produce massive numbers on the offensive end, could also be beasts of their own in defense whenever Caitlin’s not around, as they can only focus on protecting the basket, rather than lashing out on referees for missed calls or wrongful decisions.

In the last 16 games, the Fever tallied up a 9-7 record, with their most recent win coming off against the Seattle Storm. They’re now entering the last two games of their five-game West Coast travels before they head back to the Gainbridge Fieldhouse to take on Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky on Sunday.
“You Were Right In Front Of Her”: Caitlin Clark Goes Off On WNBA Referee With Viral Sideline Rant
Proving Jason Whitlock’s point on his podcast, Caitlin Clark was once again involved in a viral clip where she’s arguing with the referees during the Indiana Fever’s 78-74 win over the Seattle Storm on Monday.
Late in the first quarter at the Climate Pledge Arena, the Fever were holding onto a 17-15 lead with just over two minutes on the clock. What looked like an obvious foul against the storm went uncalled, prompting CC to jump up and shout at the referee and said, “You were right in front of her,” with disbelief written all over her face.

This isn’t the first time that Clark had a run-in with the game officials as back in July, during a heated game against the Connecticut Sun, where she also suffered a right groin injury that led to her absences lately, she had to be physically held back by her coach after appearing to confront the referees over another controversial call.
