Should the WNBA push through with the planned extension team from Kansas City, Caitlin Clark is already looking forward to playing against the team inside the T-Mobile Center.
In her recent panel appearance at the 2025 WIN for KC Women’s Sports Awards, Indiana Fever star and WNBA Rookie of The Year Caitlin Clark was asked about her thoughts on the potential for a WNBA expansion team in Kansas City. Having been born and raised—and eventually, even played—in nearby Iowa, Clark could not help but express her excitement at the idea.
“I’ve always said KC would be a great place for a team,” Clark said. “I’d love to play here [at T-Mobile Center]!”

Kansas City is being considered as a potential location for a WNBA expansion team. The success of the Kansas City Current, a professional women’s soccer team, has generated excitement and support for the idea. The city’s sports fans, including Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, have expressed enthusiasm about bringing a WNBA team to Kansas City

The 2025 WIN for KC Women’s Sports Awards celebrated National Girls and Women in Sports Day with a record-breaking attendance of around 4,000 people at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City. The event honored hundreds of high school state champions across the metro area, including the Bishop Miege girls basketball team.

The event also recognized six award winners, including Melissa Lambert, who received the Game Changer Award for being the first licensed mental health provider in an on-field role.
Caitlin Clark Talks About Bond With Taylor Swift
One of the privileges that come with fame is having access to other famous people, and Caitlin Clark is no stranger to this. Having met and interacted with Taylor Swift (and she even got a special goody bag from The Eras Tour), Clark recalled the experience of getting up close to Swift and her boyfriend, Chiefs TE Travis Kelce.
“Taylor’s obviously amazing,” Clark said. “If you’ve ever been to a Taylor Swift concert, it takes away everything that’s going on in the real world. You’re in this arena having fun, and you don’t know all these people here, but you feel like you’re friends.”

“And that’s just what makes it a good time. And obviously, she’s just a very kind caring person, and you can really feel that. I wish she was still on tour. I’d still be going to the shows.”
Right now, Caitlin Clark enjoys what’s left of her offseason before she goes back into court action for the 2025 season of the WNBA.
