Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark got the honest opinion of a former NBA star, who blasted the WNBA for giving her the opposite of the treatment she deserves.
In a statement to the Boston Globe, former Boston Celtics star Bob Cousy expressed his honest take on the current issues surrounding Caitlin Clark, and how he thinks the league should be “kissing the ground” around her.
“She’s had a tremendous impact on that league and their earning potential. They should be kissing the ground she walks on, not trying to foul her and get her out of the game,” Cousy said.

So far this 2025 season, Caitlin Clark has already missed 20 games with the Fever. Her injury woes began in late May with a quad strain that sidelined her for five games, followed by a left groin issue in June that cost her another five. After briefly returning, Clark suffered a right groin injury on July 15 against the Connecticut Sun, leading to her current 10-game absence.
The Fever have been cautious with her recovery, and head coach Stephanie White confirmed Clark has yet to return to full practice, though she’s begun light full-court running.
Despite the setbacks, Clark remains a central figure in the league’s narrative. She’s played just 13 of Indiana’s 33 games, averaging 16.5 points, 8.8 assists, and 5.0 rebounds when active. Her absence has forced the Fever to sign veteran guard Odyssey Sims on a hardship contract, as the team also lost Aari McDonald and Sydney Colson to season-ending injuries.

Caitlin Clark’s meteoric rise in the sports memorabilia world continued Saturday night as her one-of-one rookie card sold for $317,200 at Goldin Auctions. The card, part of Panini’s 2024–25 Instant Rookie Royalty Immaculate Collection, features the WNBA logo patch, a blue-ink on-card autograph, and Clark’s “ROY 24” inscription that commemorated her Rookie of the Year honor.

Bidding opened at $50,000 on July 11 and escalated rapidly, with 21 total bids pushing the final price to more than six times the starting amount. This sale marked the third-highest public auction for a Clark card, trailing only the $660,000 record set by her Panini Flawless Logowoman 1/1 card last month.
So far this season, Caitlin Clark is averaging 16.5 points per game, 8.8 assists, and shoots 36.7% from the field. She still leads the league in assists amongst all guards.
