Los Angeles Sparks star Cameron Brink shared one incident where her mom got “saved” by Dell Curry, Steph Curry’s father.
In one of the recent episodes of her podcast “Straight to Cam,” Cameron Brink opened up about one incident when Dell Curry had to hit a man to defend her mother over an altercation.
“My mom gets really animated, she loves to dance,” Brink said. “I think she accidentally bumped into this man and he literally shoved her so hard it ripped her shirt. So then Dell (Curry) stepped in and hit the guy.
“Sonya was pregnant with Steph, and my mom looks over and she’s on top of him hitting this man, while pregnant!”
The relationship between the Curry and Brink families is deeply rooted in their shared history and mutual respect. It all began at Virginia Tech, where Dell Curry and Greg Brink were teammates on the basketball team, and Sonya Curry and Michelle Bain-Brink were roommates.
The two families’ close relationship led to a lasting friendship that included their children. They have stayed connected throughout the years, celebrating important events and supporting each other.

This unique connection led to the Currys becoming the godparents of Cameron Brink, while the Brinks became the godparents of Stephen Curry and his siblings. As a result, Cameron grew up with a strong familial bond with the Curry family, often referring to Steph as her godbrother.
Cameron Brink Shares Update on ACL Injury Recovery
“It’s flown by, honestly,” Brink said of the recovery journey she had. “Like, it’s been a whirlwind but I feel like now, people don’t talk about this as much. This is the hardest part for me, because I’m just finally starting to do the jumping, the running, you know, real impact stuff. And I went on a run the other day and I was running for four minutes on and then walking for one minute, and I’m telling you, I’ve never been so gassed in my life.”
“I’m not an athlete right now.”
“Same thing with shooting. I’m not making the shots. I feel like I’m just having to relearn everything.”

Despite these challenges, Brink expressed hope and spread it in a message for everyone who is dealing with an injury and on the road to recovery, athlete or not.
“So any going through an injury right now, just know that towards the end, give yourself more grace.”

Cameron Brink is expected to return and play for the Sparks in the 2025 WNBA season.
