A Cavaliers sports podcast claimed recently that their clock is ticking when it comes to their relationship with Donovan Mitchell saying the “next two seasons are pivotal for Mitchell’s legacy and the future of the Cavaliers franchise.” The team was no. 1 in the East but failed to get past the Indiana Pacers in the second round.

They’re talking about how the Cleveland Cavaliers should be able to build a winning team around him to win his first NBA title, the very thing he came for in Ohio.
Those are legit points but for now, Mitchell is not exactly obsessed with chasing a ring. During the Spida Elite Camp at the John F. Kennedy High School, the 29-year-old shooting guard said there is something bigger he wants to add to his legacy – becoming an example to the youth.
“If I could impact one child at this camp, one moment, that’s what it’s about,” he said.

“In 30 years, that’s what my legacy is going to be. Yeah, if we win championships, that’d be fantastic, but at the end of the day, who are you as a person? What did you leave? What was your impact?”
Donovan Mitchell is people’s champ
Winning an NBA title as the main guy can send a player’s status in the league into greater heights but for Mitchell. That is the goal of a basketball pro but as a person, he is aiming for something different.
“I want the kids to have that moment so when they go and tell the stories to their parents and to their friends and be able to say, ‘Hey, I was with that guy’ that they see on TV,” he added.
“That I’m reachable. I’m touchable. I’m not just some character that they can’t really touch. I’m here.”
Of course, Mitchell wants to win the title. He already declared that they will be back. He displayed it when he tried to play through pain during the second round series with the Indiana Pacers.

He has fully recovered and is currently busy training with teammates. The team kept their core of Mitchell, Darius Garland, Jarrett Allen, and Evan Mobley who all have at least one All-Star appearance and then added Lonzo Ball as a back up point guard.
