Denver Nuggets made significant movements over the summer to surround Nikola Jokic with players that will be complement him. Their highest quality haul is Cam Johnson who they got in exchange for Michael Porter Jr. They also got Bruce Brown back and signed back up big man Jonas Valanciunas.

Does this make them contenders for the 2025-26 season? Charles Barkley is not convinced. He thought the Nuggets front office is wasting his prime.
Jokic is 30 years old already and have won almost everything in the league. However, stopping at one championship with player of his caliber is preposterous. Therefore, he should get the players that can better help him.
Barkley believes letting go of MPJ is wrong.

“The problem they have now is that they’re playing catch-up,” Barkley said. “And I always tell people this: You never catch up. It might be too late because they’re not head and shoulders, the best starting five. They got rid of their two best players off the bench when they won the championship.”
The other player he is referring to is Kentavious Caldwell-Pope who they traded to the Orlando Magic in 2024.
Denver Nuggets not the best team in the West
Nuggets made significant moves but that does not make them better in the Western Conference according to Barkley. He got the Houston Rockets and defending champions Oklahoma City Thunder above them.
He said the Nuggets are not going all-in for Jokic.
“Man, if you got a chance to win, you better go for it,” the NBA legend shared.
“And they really wasted the Joker over the last couple of years. The problem they got now is they’re not better than Oklahoma City. And I’m sure they’re not better than the Rockets.”
Rockets probably has the most interesting acquisition in the offseason after getting Kevin Durant from the Phoenix Suns. As for the Thunder, they are among the favorites to win it again.
