No giants they can’t slay. That’s what Kon Knueppel said about his Charlotte Hornets after their thrilling win over Dallas Mavericks last Thursday. A team veteran is validating that after a huge win over a Western Conference contender.

Hornets cruised to their sixth straight after taking care of business at home against Victor Wembanyama-led San Antonio Spurs. Seven players scored in double digits for the Spurs but they were not enough against the surging Hornets.

The home team used a second quarter blitz to take the driver’s seat and they were on the game since then. Spurs tried their best to take over but Hornets were just too confident now to be rattled.

Knueppel said before that they are a good basketball team if only they will have the confidence. His veteran teammate Collin Sexton is echoing that. He also thinks “we’re coming”.

“It’s gonna take an everyday process. It’s not gonna happen overnight.,” he said post ganme.

“Tonight was one of those games that we just dug deep and continued to fight. When they threw their best shot, we threw ours right back.”

Hornets have recorded wins over the league’s top teams like Oklahoma City Thunder, Los Angeles Lakers, Denver Nuggets, and Spurs.

Charlotte Hornets’ young core are showing out

The sixth straight win is the team’s fourth longest in their history. It is also their longest in the LaMelo Ball era.

There is a chance for them to extend this not because New Orleans Pelicans are their next opponent but because of the confidence the core is exuding right now.

Ball is having fun on the court. He got the defenders chasing and second guessing with his playmaking just like in the game versus the Spurs. He finished with 16 points, 8 rebounds, and 8 assists.

He does not have to do everything anymore as both Brandon Miller and Knueppel are showing tremendous growth. Miller score a game high 26 points while Knueppel, one of the best rookies this season, had 13-6-4.

    Sexton had 21 points.
