“He’s in There Every Single Day” – Charlotte Hornets’ LaMelo Ball Draws Praise From Teammate for His Offseason Work

Charlotte Hornets forward Grant Williams recently complimented LaMelo Ball’s work ethic this offseason. According to Williams, Ball is doing everything he can to stay healthy for the team this upcoming season.

Ball averaged 25.2 points, 4.9 rebounds, 7.4 assists, and 1.1 steals on 40.5 percent shooting from the field across 47 regular season games. However, his 2024-25 campaign was cut short last March due to his ankle and wrist injuries.

“He’s doing a lot of things that bring value. Not only his voice, but just his approach. He’s in there every single day. He’s there and present, and I think (he) is somebody we can look to and see, like, ‘He’s actually putting the work in every single day, not this person who is away from us and claims to be doing the work.’ No, he’s doing it every single day,” Williams said about Ball in an interview with The Charlotte Observer’s Roderick Boone.

“He’s doing every single workout, he’s being available. Not only just from a like, ‘Hey, let’s go do this.’ If maybe we do a mini camp, ‘Let’s organize this, I’ll take care of these guys, I’ll do this.’ So, he’s being very, very welcoming in a sense of as a leader and understanding that he’s going to have to take it to a more mature step in his role in order for us to be the best team possible,” he added.

Grant Williams also had his 2024-25 campaign cut short with the Charlotte Hornets because of the torn ACL he sustained last December. He finished the year averaging 10.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.1 assists on 43.9 percent shooting from the field across 16 regular season appearances.

“I feel great, physically just taking it one day at a time. Rehab is a pretty slow process. There can be good days and bad days, but fortunately, I’m in a position now where I’m getting back on the court in some capacity,” Williams said about his progress.

“Not necessarily there for contact yet, but in terms of (being) able to perform and work out, that’s something I think brings serenity — shooting the ball well, talk trash. So I’m trying to still find better shooters in the gym to compete against,” he concluded.
