The Charlotte Hornets broke their two-game slide with a 123-121 victory against the Detroit Pistons on Thursday night, fueled by the spectacular play of their young guards, LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller.

Brandon Miller led all scorers with 38 points, while LaMelo Ball almost had a double-double with 35 points and nine assists. In doing so, the duo became the first teammates in Charlotte Hornets history with at least 35 points in the same game, per Nick Carboni of WCNC.
And according to StatMamba, Miller and Ball are the fifth-youngest duo in NBA history to record at least 35 points each.

With the win, the Charlotte Hornets improved to a 6-9 record, good for ninth in the Eastern Conference. More importantly, the future looks bright for the young squad under head coach Charles Lee.
Charlotte Hornets’ Brandon Miller gets the perfect birthday gift
Brandon Miller was rightfully named the Charlotte Hornets Player of the Game with his all-around performance. During the postgame interview, the 22-year-old swingman said it was the perfect birthday present since he did it in front of the home fans.

“Competing in front of our home crowd…I think we just need to give them something to celebrate about. It’s deuce deuce tomorrow, so happy birthday to me. Early birthday coming from myself, of course,” Miller said.
Next up for the Charlotte Hornets are the improving Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday before heading home to open their five-game homestand against the Orlando Magic.
