The Charlotte Hornets are likely to be active ahead of the February trade deadline, as they’re reportedly looking at takers for Collin Sexton, whom they acquired from the Utah Jazz last offseason in exchange for Jusuf Nurkic.
In his first season with the Charlotte Hornets, Sexton is averaging 15.4 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 4.1 assists on 48.3 percent shooting from the field across 22 appearances (10 starts). The eight-year pro missed eight of the team’s last nine games due to a quad injury.
“Sources say that the Hornets, furthermore, are also open for business to a degree, but that might only mean shopping veteran guard Collin Sexton as Charlotte — sporting the league’s longest playoff drought at nine seasons and counting — clings to hope that it can still be a Play-In team,” NBA insider Jake Fischer said of Sexton via The Stein Line.
“Minnesota has conducted some diligence on Charlotte’s Collin Sexton. The Wolves seem to be intent on establishing their range of options at the position,” he added.

Charlotte Hornets News: Collin Sexton provides much-needed boost from the second unit vs. Washington Wizards
The Charlotte Hornets halted their two-game losing skid with a 126-109 win over the Washington Wizards on Tuesday night to improve to a 10-20 record, putting them within arm’s reach of a play-in spot.
The game also marked Collin Sexton’s return after an eight-game absence. The Alabama product contributed 12 points on 2-for-7 shooting in 16 minutes off the bench versus the Washington Wizards.
“I love the boost that he gave us from a spirit and a competitiveness standpoint. Defensively, he crawls up into guys. He gets a deflection on like one of his first defensive plays where he’s about to blow up a screen, which really helped us because I thought their off-ball movement was hurting us a bit,” head coach Charles Lee said of Sexton via The Charlotte Observer.
