Las Vegas Aces star guard Chelsea Gray shut down critics who downplayed the chances of the Aces making a comeback this season, as they successfully grabbed the championship this season.
In a post on X, Chelsea Gray gave a simple but strong statement towards haters and critics, following the Aces winning the 2025 WNBA Finals. The comment came after the Aces started as one of the strongest favorites but slid down in prediction charts as they opened the season with a struggle.

“Fewffffff we da champs,” Gray said in her post. “People gotta eat their wordsssssss.”

The Las Vegas Aces cemented their championship this season as they won Game 4 of their Finals series against the Phoenix Mercury. The Mercury, despite fighting tooth-and-nail, failed to catch up for the past three games, leading to 202 MVP A’ja Wilson’s team grabbing the title.
The sweep has solidified the Aces as this season’s standard for the WNBA franchise and will bring offseason conversations about rosters and player pay into the spotlight as franchises return after looking to challenge the Aces for the title next season.
Chelsea Gray Gets Honest on WNBA Pay Issue
Las Vegas Aces guard Chelsea Gray sharply criticized how the WNBA values its players, saying that true recognition means compensating athletes commensurately with their contributions and the league’s growth. Gray told reporters after the Aces’ title celebration that proper treatment must include pay and revenue sharing, listing payment, treatment and revenue share as the measures by which players should be valued.

“When you have great players you need to treat them like that. And that’s top to bottom,” Gray said. “That’s payment. That’s treatment. That’s revenue share. That’s everything. When you have players like that and at the forefront of change, you have to pay them like that, you have to value them like that because there’s no league without the players.”

Gray positioned her comments as a reaction to the ongoing negotiations for a new collective bargaining agreement, which has been tainted by indications from fans about their feelings towards the league’s leadership, and stressed that there is no league without the players and that the compensation for playing should reflect that reality.

Players and the league remain at odds with negotiations for a new collective bargaining agreement ongoing and the deadline approaching on October 31, while the WNBPA continues to ask for a revenue-sharing system that would align player pay with the league’s growth instead of fixed, predictable increases.
During the 2025 season, Chelsea Gray averaged 11.2 points per game, 3.9 rebounds and 5.4 assists.
