Chicago Bulls guard Coby White cut a forlorn figure after he missed his game-tying three-point attempt during their 116-113 home loss against the Miami Heat on Thursday night. It was the team’s third consecutive loss following a four-game winning streak.
With the Chicago Bulls down by three, the ball found its way to White, who fired from way beyond the arc. It was a great look for the former seventh overall pick, but his shot hit the back iron, and Jaime Jaquez Jr. secured the rebound at the buzzer.
“It hurt my heart, man,” White said about the miss via Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times. “It came off my hand, thought it was good, it was on line. I got a clean look. Hit the back of the rim and just didn’t fall.”
“It was a grind-it-out game,” he continued. “We tried to make a push at the end. Of course, we want to go to Miami and get two. The game from the jump, we were all saying (Thursday) was going to be a grind-it-out game for both teams. Ask both teams, and they’ll both say they didn’t play their best basketball.”

Chicago Bulls News: Billy Donovan gets 100% real on Coby White’s game-tying three-point attempt vs. Miami Heat
Billy Donovan lauded Coby White’s confidence to take the shot against the Miami Heat. According to the Chicago Bulls head coach, he doesn’t mind giving White the ball if the game is on the line again.
“I love it for him in terms of his growth. I’ve got a lot of confidence and belief in him. I think Coby leans into these situations to become the player he wants to be. You know you’re not going to make them all,” Donovan said of White via ClutchPoints’ Zachary Draves.
“I think the thing he’ll have to ask himself is, did I shoot with confidence? Was I balanced? Did I go through with all the things I control? And I think he did. I thought he looked good, and he came off confidently. The ball just didn’t go in; it happens sometimes,” he ended.
