Chicago Bulls forward Matas Buzelis has looked noticeably bigger and stronger than he was at the end of last season, and he has looked like a veteran in his second Summer League experience.

During a recent interview with Bulls on CHSN, the 20-year-old high-flyer is confident that he’ll take the next step for the Chicago Bulls, so much so that he thinks he could be among the best players in the NBA sooner rather than later.

“I don’t know. I think I can be the best. That’s just how I think. I always believe, I always think I can be the best, so I never put a limit on anything for me,” Buzelis said about his ceiling.

“That’s just how I was raised. I think I can be the best player ever. That’s just how I think. If you don’t think like that, this is not the sport for you,” he emphasized.

Chicago Bulls News: Matas Buzelis shares encouraging message to rookie forward

Matas Buzelis is embracing his leadership role with the Chicago Bulls, as he gave Noa Essengue a pep talk after the rookie forward struggled in his first Summer League game. It seems that it worked because Essengue recorded 12 points and 10 rebounds on 4-for-10 shooting from the field in his second game against the Sacramento Kings.

“You’ve got to have a short memory,” Buzelis said on his message for Essengue via Chicago Sun-Times’ Joe Cowley. “He’s a great defender. He’s got great defensive instincts. Offensively, he’ll be fine.”

“You can see other guys. (Spurs star Victor) Wembanyama, it was tough for him in the first game. I didn’t play well (last year), either. He’ll be fine. I don’t think anyone should be stressing about it,” he added.
