The Chicago Bulls have been mentioned in a ton of trade rumors throughout the NBA offseason. With the 2024-25 NBA season set to get underway later this month, those rumors are not likely to go away.
Of course, a lot of those rumors have surrounded star shooting guard Zach LaVine. He has been rumored to be on the trade block over the past couple of years. There is a lot of belief that he could be moved before the NBA trade deadline this year.
Finding a trade partner for LaVine has proved to be a problem. No one has wanted to bring on a player with the kind of money attached to him that LaVine has.
All of that being said, a new trade has been suggested that would offer a potential end to the LaVine rumors.
Chicago Bulls Could Trade Star Guard To Charlotte Hornets?
In a newly proposed trade idea, the Bulls would ship LaVine to the Hornets.
That trade idea was proposed by Fran Leiva of Fadeaway World. What would the trade between the two Eastern Conference teams look like?
Chicago Bulls Receive: Grant Williams, Josh Green, Cody Martin, Nick Smith Jr.
Charlotte Hornets Receive: Zach LaVine
For the Chicago Bulls, acquiring Williams and Green would be the biggest part of the move. Honestly, moving off of LaVine’s contract would be the other big key to the trade.
As for Charlotte, acquiring LaVine would give them a potential go-to scorer. They could use a dynamic running mate to take pressure off of LaMelo Ball. LaVine and Ball would certainly create an entertaining back-court.
During the 2023-24 NBA season with the Bulls, LaVine ended up playing in just 25 games. He averaged 19.5 points per game to go along with 5.2 rebounds and 3.9 assists. LaVine also shot 45.2 percent from the floor and 34.9 percent from three-point range.
Chicago would likely be interested in this trade simply due to the financials. LaVine is not a part of their long-term plans and making this move gets them away from the money. The Hornets, on the other hand, would bring in a player that could help them compete.
All of that being said, it will be interesting to see what the Chicago Bulls end up doing and if they’re able to move LaVine this season.
