Cleveland Cavaliers guard Darius Garland was recently seen doing basketball workouts, giving the fans hope that he’s making a great recovery from his big toe injury.

According to Cleveland.com’s Terry Pluto, Garland’s rehab progress is on track. However, while the Cleveland Cavaliers are happy with his progress, the team still expects the two-time NBA All-Star to miss the first few games of the 2025-26 season.
“Darius Garland is not expected to be out as long as Strus, but he’ll probably miss several weeks early in the season as he continues recovering from toe surgery,” Pluto wrote. “The Cavs are very pleased with his progress.”

Garland underwent surgery last June to fix his left big toe that bothered him during the playoffs. Besides Garland, the Cleveland Cavaliers are also missing the services of Max Strus, who’s expected to be out for at least three months due to a foot injury he sustained earlier this offseason.
Cleveland Cavaliers plan to insert De’Andre Hunter into the starting lineup, claims insider
In the same mailbag article, Cleveland.com’s Terry Pluto also said that the Cleveland Cavaliers have set their sights on having De’Andre Hunter as their starting small forward next season.

“THE STARTING SMALL FORWARD… will be De’Andre Hunter, unless there is a change of plans. Max Strus is out for several months after foot surgery. The Cavs already were looking at Hunter as a starter before the injury to Strus,” Pluto reported.
“I was told Hunter ‘looked great’ in the summer workouts. Hunter was hampered by a thumb injury in the Indiana series. But I also heard he was dealing with some other lesser injuries. He’s healthy now,” he added.
