After languishing with the Sacramento Kings this season, Dennis Schroder and Keon Ellis are relishing their new opportunity to win more games with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
During their first media availability, the new Cleveland Cavaliers guards took turns explaining to the fans what they’ll bring to the team, as they plan to make a deep playoff run this season.
“I’m just excited to be on a winning team, come in, and contribute. I know they’re trying to win every night, and I think I can help (with) the things that I do. I’m excited to be a part of that,” Ellis told Spencer Davies of ClutchPoints. “Every night, I’m playing my hardest, trying to do my job at the best extent. Being a great teammate. Just trying to win.”
“You need a competitive edge to make it that long in the league, I believe. I’ve been doing it my whole career. When I was young, I always wanted to compete. I always wanted to win. I think this fits well with this team. Getting (Jaylon) Tyson, Donovan Mitchell, Ev (Mobley), and (Jarrett) Allen to… not talk s***, but being competitive and making sure we go out there and go after it. I think kind of the dog mentality, if we have that, we go a long way,” Schroder stated.

Cleveland Cavaliers News: Donovan Mitchell delivers verdict on Keon Ellis and Dennis Schroder vs. Los Angeles Clippers
Keon Ellis and Dennis Schroder provided quality minutes off the bench in the Cleveland Cavaliers’ 124-91 road victory against the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday night, drawing praise from Donovan Mitchell. Schroder had 11 points, six rebounds, and three steals on 5-for-14 shooting, while Ellis added six points, three rebounds, and two steals on 2-for-5 shooting.
“It’s great I don’t gotta go against Dennis anymore, I’ll tell you that. You just see the way he impacts the game immediately on both ends of the floor… It’s a seamless fit with this guy. He’s a veteran,” Mitchell said.
Mitchell actually led the Cleveland Cavaliers in scoring, pouring in 29 points, five rebounds, nine assists, and four steals on 10-for-19 shooting from the field in 30 minutes of action.
