The Cleveland Cavaliers secured a 117-115 road victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday night, as Jaylon Tyson willed his team to victory with his all-around effort, especially with Darius Garland (foot), Sam Merrill (hand), and Dean Wade (knee) on the sidelines.
The second-year pro had a game-high 39 points, five rebounds, four assists, and seven three-pointers on 7-for-9 shooting from the field. Tyson drove and dished the ball to Evan Mobley to give the Cleveland Cavaliers the lead for good with 4.8 seconds remaining. After the game, Donovan Mitchell believes Tyson has a strong case to be this season’s Most Improved Player.
“That kid. Wow. That kid is different. That kid is different. Obviously, as a collective, we did what we needed to do. We weathered the storm, every single person stepped up… led by him. He puts the time in. He puts the work in. I don’t know what else to say,” Donovan Mitchell said of Tyson in his courtside interview.
“Second year in the league and it’s like he’s been here for 10 years… He needs to be in the most improved category. He needs to win the award. No one else is doing this in their second year. This is special. I mean, he is the reason we won the game. To do that and guard Tyrese Maxey for 48 minutes, that’s a special kid. I’m so happy for him,” he added.

Cleveland Cavaliers News: Jaylon Tyson deflects the credit after win vs. Philadelphia 76ers
Jaylon Tyson just had his best game in a Cleveland Cavaliers uniform. But instead of soaking in the praise, the 23-year-old forward took the high road by maintaining a humble approach.
“I just feel like it was a good team win,” Tyson said via ClutchPoints’ Spencer Davies. “I don’t want to make this all about me. Obviously, I did have a good game, but I feel like everybody made good plays… It was a good game, but I’m just glad we won. Get to celebrate on the plane and go to sleep.”
“From the start of the offseason to now, my biggest thing was, ‘Don’t think, just shoot.’ I found the space, and I’m shooting confidently. Dre made some good plays, JA (Jarrett Allen), Ev, Don, Qwan (Tomlin). Everybody came in and made good plays that ultimately helped us win. Hopefully, we can just take this and keep stacking,” he ended.
