Donovan Mitchell was on the receiving end of so many praises after his insane Game 7 performance against the Orlando Magic. Among those who gave the Cleveland Cavaliers’ star his flowers was no other than Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young.

In that series-deciding game, the Cavs took the 106-94 victory against a Paolo Banchero-led Orlando team. Mitchell dropped 24 of his 39 points in the second half to erase the biggest Game 7 lead in playoff history. Along the way, he also tallied nine rebounds and five assists to lead Cleveland to the dub.

Apart from Mitchell, Evan Mobley posted 11 points, 16 rebounds, and five blocks in a defensive effort that helped keep the Magic at bay. Max Strus added 13 points while Caris LeVert notched 15 points from the bench.

The Magic, meanwhile, saw Banchero put up an insane performance of 38 points, 16 rebounds, two assists, and three steals. Apart from the All-Star forward, only Wendel Carter Jr. and Jalen Suggs scored in double digits with 13 and 10 points, respectively.

The win helped Cleveland advance to the Eastern Conference semifinals to face Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics. The loss, however, ended Orlando’s surprising run this season, as evidenced by Banchero’s ascendance in the NBA. Nevertheless, the Cavs have their work cut out for them in the coming weeks.

After the game, various personalities praised Mitchell for his historic Game 7 performance against the Magic. Among those who gave their take on social media is Hawks All-Star Trae Young.

    “a professional scorer,” Young tweeted.

Throughout 55 games during the regular season, Mitchell averaged 26.6 points, 5.1 rebounds, 6.1 assists, and 1.8 steals per contest. His scoring went up to 28.7 points in the seven games Spida played against Orlando recently. And even though he only shot 45 percent from the field, 25 percent from beyond the perimeter, and 82 percent from the free throw line, his efficiency was still enough for his team to get over the hump.

Thanks to Mitchell’s performance, the Cavaliers have won their first playoff series without LeBron James since 1993. This is considered a success for both the guard and the franchise as they head on to face the number one team in the league soon. In any case, Mitchell has a good opportunity to further his career more against the Celtics in the following round.
