Kawhi Leonard’s birthday is June 29 but Los Angeles Clippers’ greetings for him back in 2023 is gaining engagement again. His birthday was obviously not adjusted but the reason behind is more interesting than his birth date.

X users resurfaced the birthday greeting after news of him receiving multi-million deal to endorse a tree planting initiative.

    Happy Birthday, Kawhi!🥳

The post tagged the name of the company but when you click on the username, you are directed to a user who appear to be totally not connected to the initiative that Leonard signed up for. The username is Becca Destreee (aspiration) and it has no profile picture and tweeted just once since the account was made in 2011.

The company’s full name is Aspiration Fund Adviser, LLC and it filed bankruptcy this year. It is allegedly tied to another firm called KL2 Aspire LLC. Leonard’s initial is KL and his jersey numbers is 2.

Leonard joined the Clippers after winning the 2019 title with the Toronto Raptors and many thought he had no reason to leave them.

Kawhi Leonard, Clippers are being investigated

Was that a bogus company? That’s just one of the many questions team owner Steve Ballmer and Kawhi Leonard will have to answer.

Journalist Pablo Torre released an exposè claiming the Clippers might have committed a violation of the NBA salary cap rules for giving Leonard $28 million to endorse Aspiration. Torre said Ballmer used this deal to pay the two-time champ more than what was allowed.

NBA spokesman Mike Bass said the league is aware of the report made by Torre and that they have started the investigation of the matter.

Clippers, on the other hand, outright denied the accusations.
