As the WNBA regular season ends two days later, Caitlin Clark’s Indiana Fever team is in sixth place overall in the conference. Their postseason opponents would probably be the Connecticut Sun, who’s in third place. However, NBC reporter Natalie Esquire believes the Sun should avoid playing against Clark’s team in the playoffs.

The Sun and the Fever are placed second and third in the league’s Eastern Conference, respectively. The latter would conclude their regular season by contending against the Washington Mystics. Meanwhile, the former has two more games against the Minnesota Lynx and Chicago Sky.

According to Esquire, the Sun would be best off giving up their third spot overall and landing on the fourth to play against the fifth-seeded Seattle Storm in the playoffs, avoiding the sixth-seeded Indiana Fever and their star rookie Caitlin Clark.

On NBC Sports’ “On The Turf,” Esquire explains why the Sun should not face against the Fever in the postseason:

“I don’t want to look it at like trying to avoid a team, but it’s more like, if you think it’s important to get any of your players rest … and be comfortable to either get four or five (seeds) or do you feel strongly about getting the three seed. I just think a business decision has to be made,” Esquire said.

Esquire believes that the Sun wouldn’t keep up with the pace of Clark’s team, highlighting their lousy offensive performance in their past games

Additionally, she said that the Storm would be an easier opponent for Connecticut, where they would handle their defense more effectively.

So far, the Sun is guaranteed to play against the Fever. However, if they lose their final two games while the fourth-seeded Las Vegas Aces win their remaining matches, Connecticut will fall to fourth place.

Caitlin Clark leads the Fever once more as they escape a near-defeat from the Dallas Wings

Caitlin Clark scored 35 points with six shots from downtown, and her team, the Fever, nearly lost against the Dallas Wings.

The Fever, losing their last two games against the Las Vegas Aces, seeks to bounce back and secure their spot as the regular season concludes.

However, they faced fierce resistance from the Wings, led by Satou Sabally and Arike Ogunbowale, each scoring 27 points for Dallas.

The game ended in a narrow Fever victory, 110-109. Clark’s team will face the Washington Mystics on Thursday as they conclude their regular season.
