Cooper Flagg’s play has been rising lately and the Dallas Mavericks are starting to look good. However, there might have a problem along the way if his health does not get appropriate attention.
The 2025 no. 1 pick revealed that he has been playing through injury in the past games. Despite that, he feels great.

‘With the amount of games we play, there’s always going to be nagging things,” he said.
“Obviously I’ve had stuff with my thumb going on, but I’m good to go. There’s always gonna be something you have to deal with. That’s just part of being mentally and physically tough.’
Injury has been the plague that’s preventing the Mavericks from their getting to their potential as a squad. They still don’t have Kyrie Irving who is still recovering from an ACL injury. Anthony Davis was in and out of the line up.

Just recently, Dereck Lively II saw his season ended abruptly as he has to undergo surgery on his right foot. Just last month, it was Daniel Gafford who was put on the injury bay to heal from a severe right ankle sprain for one month.
Cooper Flagg is top rookie right now
What Flagg is currently doing is just amazing and he is getting rewarded for it.
He has finally taken the no. 1 spot in the NBA.com Kia Rookie Ladder after settling for no. 2 in the last one. He is currently averaging 17.3 ppg, which is the second highest among all rookies, behind Charlotte Hornets’ Kon Knueppel.
Flagg is so good lately that he matches All-Star players when it comes to clutch shots.

One area in which Flagg continues to shine, and compete with some NBA veterans, is in the clutch. Due in part to Dallas’ 16 clutch games this season (games within five points with less than five minutes left), their prized rookie ranks near the top in several categories.
His 52 points in the clutch place him fourth, and his 71.3 clutch minutes are second only to Tyrese Maxey’s 75.6 of the Philadelphia 76ers. Flagg’s 59.3% field-goal percentage is second behind the Minnesota Timberwolves’ Anthony Edwards (66.7%) among Top 20 clutch scorers. Flagg is also second with 20 rebounds in those tight minutes, trailing the Chicago Bulls’ Josh Giddey (21).
