“Like a Jack of All Trades Guy” – Dallas Mavericks Fans Might Not Agree With Former Champion’s Cooper Flagg NBA Comp

Dallas Mavericks rookie Cooper Flagg has often been compared to Larry Bird because of their similar builds and playing styles. However, Channing Frye has a different player comp in mind.

According to the one-time NBA champion, it’s too early to compare Flagg to Bird since he has yet to achieve anything. Instead, he named Andre Iguodala as the better comparison for the Dallas Mavericks swingman.

“Andre? Like Andre Iguodala, to be honest. Like a jack of all trades guy. To me, he does everything well. Coming out of college, Andre is one of the most talented players I’ve ever seen. You look at Andre, he could shoot, he could defend,” Frye said about Flagg on the Road Trippin’ podcast.

Being compared to Iguodala isn’t necessarily a bad thing for Flagg, as the former has built an impressive resume. After spending his prime years with the Philadelphia 76ers and the Denver Nuggets, Iguodala took his talents to Golden State, winning four NBA titles and one Finals MVP. His No. 9 jersey is also retired by the franchise.

Dallas Mavericks News: Cooper Flagg struggles in win vs. Utah Jazz

With D’Angelo Russell sidelined, the Dallas Mavericks made the unconventional move of deploying Cooper Flagg as the starting point guard during their 114-101 preseason win against the Utah Jazz yesterday.

“I want to put him at point guard, make him uncomfortable… I’m excited about giving him the ball against the Lakers and see what happens,” Jason Kidd said about Flagg last June via FOX4.

The former Duke forward contributed 11 points, seven rebounds, two steals, and two blocks, but only shot 3-for-13 from the field in 21 minutes of action.
